Taking my skis and Snowboard internationally?

Before I couldn’t take skis and left them in Asia and sent my snowboard by mail. it was ridiculously expensive. So have decided that I will take it with me on the plane. What do you think to my idea of buying a new snowboard bag- of 170cm long, that way I could fit my 170cm skis in the bag and snowboard and put them on the plane as sports equipment.
